I got to help out with a Great Horned Owl! Beautiful creature. Huge talons. He was awaiting a ride down to the Raptor Center on the U of MN campus in St. Paul. Wildwoods isn’t a big enough facility to keep every animal we get and there are many places that are able to specialize in the care of certain types of creatures. Why re-invent the wheel? And Wildwoods does it in the greenest way possible. They put out a notice asking if anyone is already on their way to or near these facilities. That way, no special trips are made, they don’t have to have a dedicated vehicle for transportation, and fuel is saved. If you want to be alerted when a critter needs transportation somewhere, follow their Facebook page or sign up to be a transportation volunteer. More info can be found at their website.
