A pretty relaxed evening; just squirrels and various birds to feed. The red squirrels were pretty darned cute though. They are just starting to open their eyes and want nothing more than to curl up in a red squirrel bundle and nap. After they’ve eaten of course. Fun fact: baby squirrels (and other woodland babies) can’t pee by themselves. Mom licks their… you-know-what’s until the pee just comes out and she cleans as they go. This is to keep predators from being able to smell and hunt out the nest. To duplicate this we take a little piece of wet paper towel and flick their… you-know-what’s with it to simulate mom’s tongue. Some of the braver souls just use their finger tip but I am not one of those souls.
