It was movie night and we decided to try our hand at making real popcorn—not the stuff in the bag with the weird “butter” already in the bag. Our friends inspired us by adding some bourbon to the melted butter. MMMMMMMMM! This was so good we made 2 batches and ate it ALL.
Home-made Bourbon Kettle Corn
- 1/4 C vegetable oil
- 1/3 C un-popped popcorn kernels
- 3 Tbsp butter
- 1 tsp honey
- 2 Tbsp bourbon
- Salt, to taste
- Put the veg oil and popcorn kernels in a 3-quart pot and cover. Being careful not to burn yourself or let the cover fly off, shake the pot over a medium-high burner until the pops are about 1-2 seconds apart. Remove from heat, set aside.
- In a small saucepan melt butter. Add the honey and bourbon, stir to combine, remove from heat, and pour over popcorn. Add salt, replace the cover, and shake until popcorn is evenly coated.
