John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon

This weekend we went to check out the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. We’d never gone before and so were completely unprepared. We didn’t realize how popular this race is and so didn’t wear appropriate frozen-tundra clothing. In our regular street clothes, husband without a proper hat, me without proper gloves, both armed only with travel mugs of coffee, we were forced to park about a mile away from the actual race and walk the rest of the way, heading face-first into bone chilling wind.

BUT, we had a great time and will totally go back next year, although much better prepared. Here are some of the pictures I took of several teams taking off at the start of the race:

  1. Cool pics!

Hope you didn’t get too chilled. Remember: warm tea with honey, followed by a nice shot of whiskey before bedtime. This will ensure you do not get a cold from over-exposure to the elements. 🙂

    1. Immediately upon our return I had a hot chocolate and whiskey (hey, it was either whiskey or rum. The whiskey wasn’t half bad!) now it’s a hot apple cider with rum. mmmmmmm 🙂
